STC Text

In autumn 2021 Music Declares Emergency invited choirs across the UK to sing a message to the world, during COP26 - the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.

We aimed to place action on climate at the heart of public thinking by mobilising choir networks across the UK to create the largest musical event ever seen in the UK. At the end of October choirs across the nation performed the iconic Louis Armstrong song ‘What A Wonderful World’ arranged by acclaimed choir leader Mark De-Lisser. We asked choirs, audiences and the public to sign our letter to their MPs calling for action on climate change.

HOW TO TAKE PART:

Download the parts and piano backing track for Mark De Lisser's arrangement of 'What a Wonderful World' to learn with your choir. Sheet music is available or you can learn individual parts by ear.

For COP26, we invited choirs all over the country to share their versions of the song. You can still share your version!

  • Film your choir singing What A Wonderful World and share on all of your social media channels, using the hashtags #SingTheChange #WonderfulWorld #nomusiconadeadplanet. Here’s our rough guide to filming your choir.
  • Share your video with Music Declares Emergency by uploading HERE
  • Create a public performance. You could join with other local choirs for this. The bigger and the more public, the better! Think flash-mob... Think local beauty spot...Think about what a 'wonderful world' means to you! Here’s our rough guide to doing your live performance.
